Boss Armor mechanic

How does this mechanic work? Sometimes attacks go through their armor, but most of the time they don't. I haven't been able to find any concrete information on how to get them to stagger consistently. Thanks in advance.

That is the super armour level of the boss. If the "super armor crash level" (SAC) of a skill is higher than the "super armor level" (SA) of a mob (normal mobs can have these too, but you usually wont be able to see a number), it will cancel the super armor and stagger the mob.

All the Trainee Finishing Moves have SAC Level 1 (with an extra level added with Master Skill Cube).
All the Intern Finishing Moves have SAC Level 2 (with an extra level added with Master Skill Cube).

Seulbi's Reverted Bits have SAC Level 1.
J's Ocher Grip has SAC Level 1 (though for some weird reason he can still grab enemies well past that, as far as I have seen).
There's some others i can't recall right now.

Phase Power Release will increase the SAC of every skill that has any by 1 level.

Simply put, it's best to plan on not being able to, since bosses can react to attacks by going into super armor attacks that cannot be interrupted no matter what. (Namely in Area 4.)

But usually, "grab" attacks (J's second skill and Seha's Official Agent dash skill.) and ultimates interrupt super armor attacks.

The uncancellable super armour in area 4 is really really weird. The numbers still show up fine, but no matter what you do it wont break it. It only happens on certain dungeons and quests however, as just regular VH grinding allowed me to break the SA of mobs again.

The only times you can't break SA outside of the odd area 4 cases, is obviously when the mob's SA level is 5 or larger.
Mastered Intern Finishing Move while awakened : Level 4 SAC.

Quick question on my part, do the OA Finishing Moves start of with level 3 SAC? Once master of that becomes available you'd be able to cancel everything in area 4, including SA Level 5 boss moves.
