Health management with J?
#1
Whenever I play with J, I seem to have trouble keeping his health up, even when I'm not taking damage. I'll take out 2-3 groups of enemies, then notice I've already lost 500 HP or more from my combos. I try using that regen skill whenever it cools down, but it doesn't restore THAT much, so I'm having to pop potions frequently (which can be costly after level 20).

I've bumped up one of my skills to Advanced and it restores HP as well, but I'm still struggling here. Is J really supposed to be draining so much HP for his damage? I can understand them wanting to drain some of his HP for his "Super Saiyan" mode, but for everything else... It seems a bit excessive, lol. It feels like I'm kicking my ass more than the enemies are at this point.

I'll hardly be hit by anything, then I reach the boss and I've only got 10% HP left, and I'm thinking, "Good grief. Why am I getting punished so hard for killing everything so fast here?" :p

Any tips would be much appreciated though! For all I know, it could be my gear, but I've been upgrading it whenever I get I new/better piece, so that shouldn't be the problem (I can supply screenshots in case you want to check it though). I'm currently level 24 with 3,865 HP at the moment.

Simple solution.

Stop comboing.
I'm not even joking.
Just don't combo.

This game punishes you greatly for comboing. OTL

If you can't stand that, then I would go along with some Koreans so you don't have to pump out as much HP for skills. :x
If that's not possible, then I would follow this guide or this guide for methods to get quick credits so you will always have drug potion money.

What I personally do is only use Germanium + Golden Time w/ ATATATATATATATA for damage. This can also be used for quick mob clear if mobs are close enough, since ATATATATATA pulls foes closer as you hit.
For mob pushing, I use advanced Magnesium. It's much faster and you get some HP back. If them being knocked down is a problem, just pull with Magnetism.
For quick mob clear; I just lure mobs around or push them relatively close to each other, go to the center, and ham on them with Germanium + Healthy.
For juggle-able bosses, I just go Germanium + Golden Time w/ Healthy, then follow up with ATATATATATATATA and then just spam >>^ZZ on them until my cooldown is gone.
For the ones I can't juggle, I do the same thing, except instead of >>^ZZ I do Z/ZZ/ZZZ/ZZZZ to get some recovery, and evade/ATATATAATATATA-tank every now and then until cooldown is gone.

Oh, this should be obvious by now but always use Germanium right before you go ham on anything~ Big Grin
It gives attack stats along with HP recovery.

Also, J is very good tank, you can get awakening very quickly if you tank past some attacks...so GET A LOT OF AWAKENING STATS TO GIVE YOURSELF STEROID STATS TO CLEAR EVEN FASTER SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO KEEP USING SKILLS

If you are still having trouble, I would get a Wand or Lantern weapon (recommend Wand). They decrease cooldown, so you can use Magnesium + Germanium for quicker HP regain. Smile
(Though this also means your other skills will go out of cooldown quicker too, so be careful...)

For someone that's built on combos though, not doing them seems kind of counterproductive. Do the other characters suffer in this way too? I mean, you know... Do you get punished for playing towards their strengths? Also, what is "awakening" anyway? I read JP better than KR, so I just want to make sure I know what you mean, lol.

Its more like group mobs for efficiency along with normal attacking with the normal attack passive. J has some pretty good mob gathering skill(s) like Calcium Charging and Jade Magnetism. Its fine to combo, but try not to use too many skills just to kill mobs.

As Khleys said, Magnesium Strike is great. At a good enough level, it heals for more than it uses and you'll see yourself using it quite often when it becomes a good self-sustain with Germanium. Along with using Germanium (also gives skill resource conservation IIRC?, correct me if thats wrong) before other skills, should check out the cost of skills compared to your HP.

Health Morning Exercise and Golden Time sap a hell lot of HP. If your going to use them every CD, be prepared to chug HP pots. I mostly come across this HP management problem in earlier levels from leveling skills ASAP, especially the finishers, instead of waiting for higher level or just not having the HP and stats to maintain skill usage.

It has a lot to do with equipment needless to say. Kill them before you kill yourself and get some good HP armor/sockets like skill resource conservation and HP%.

I'm basically popping CDs whenever they are available against mobs, so that's probably why I'm draining my HP like crazy, heh. There have also been times during boss fights when I "lose" while still having 300-600 HP. Is that just a beta bug or am I missing something here? You should only get a game over when your HP drops to 0, right? (unless it's a defense mission and the HP of the target drops to 0 first :p)

I guess I'll try holding back on using so many CDs when fighting mobs and just save them for sub bosses and the boss.

My own J is tanky all the combo's i do are usually instantly recovered with those "steroids"
Usually u pop around 1 skill for a big mob other then that i just loop.An for his "super sayain ult" You should pop it 2 early unless u have something to cover it example heath thingies at the boss (idk what there called). "Steroids" alone can recover around 5% of your hp o 3 o. My J is a lvl 34 and has no problem with this i myself don't use pots anymore (8.5k hp) and the "steroids" are very helpful. So basically u usually use 1-2 skills per BIG mob as in 5+ then u pop your "steroids" ahead of time or after the combo

I've been popping like 5-6 skills per mob, lol.

EDIT: Okay, restricting myself to magnetize, magnesium, and omega 3, I was able to clear a stage without much of a problem concerning my health at all. I just saved all my big stuff for sub bosses and the boss. This is working a lot better. Thanks for the help, guys!

That's happened a couple of times to me too...
Basically what happened was:

You used some form of HP recovery -> Lag -> HP drops to 0 -> Potion goes through = Game considers you dead already = Dead w/ HP Tongue
